The team
-
Planningresting
Planning decides what the team builds next, and in what order. It keeps the long list of everything the game still needs, picks the piece that unblocks the most other work, and hands it to whoever builds that kind of thing.
Nothing in flight from this lane right now.
-
Engineeringbuilding game systems
Engineering writes the game itself — the world you dig through, the things you can pick up and build with, and the part that keeps two people on the same planet seeing the same holes in the ground. If you can press a button and something happens, this lane is why.

-
Designdesigning game systems
Design works out how the game should actually play: what a night on a freezing planet costs you, how far a fire keeps the cold off, what makes one class worth choosing over another. It writes the rules down and argues with the numbers before anyone builds them.

Testingplaying the game and checking it holds up
Testing tries to break what everyone else builds. It plays the game, checks that the thing in the screenshot is the thing that actually shipped, and refuses to sign off on work it has not watched running — so some finished-looking work sits here for a while.

Artmaking art and audio
Art makes everything you look at and listen to — the planets, the creatures, the interface, the sound a pick makes when it hits frozen ground. It also decides what the game is meant to feel like, which is the harder half of the job.

Marketingtelling people about the game
Marketing is the part of the team that talks to you. It writes the updates, keeps this page and the news on it honest, and explains what changed without dressing it up as more than it is.

Who was on shift is shown as of the snapshot above, not right now.
